Teasing comb, hairspray... I personally love, love, love how glamorous I feel while dawning a voluminous hair look! I'm sure most of you can relate. You know, the half up half down, Brigitte Bardot sort of look?
It always makes me feel so glamorous... like a bombshell! Below, I have compiled a list of the best YouTube tutorials for achieving "BIG HAIR" looks! ;)
(1.) The title of the "queen of big hair", at least for me anyway, remains to be held by the glamorous bombshell Brigitte Bardot! She was an iconic French film star, fashion model, etc. who's peak of fame resided solely amid the early 60's. She was highly renowned for both her beauty, pout and... well, big hair!
(2.) Another big hair glamour girl from the late 50's/early and mid 60's was the iconic Ann Margret who's top roles existed inside her performances alongside the infamous "King of Rock and Roll"... Elvis Presley.
(3.) Next in line would have to be, without a doubt, Audrey Hepburn's glamorous beehive/updo... a look that became especially popular during the 60's era. Just try watching "Breakfast at Tiffany's", you'll immediately find yourself shopping for bobby pins, hairspray and a teasing comb, eager to emulate the glamorous look yourself!
(4.) Jackie O's classy bouffant hairstyle remains an iconic hair look, an especially 60's reminiscent hair look, where the bigger the hair the better! Her look radiates both a regal yet trendy look!
(5.) Elvis' wife, Priscilla Presley also holds a high place in having one of the most glamorous 60's "Big Hair" looks! The way she styled her big black hair, her 60's-esque eyeliner... she was the picture of an idealized cover-girl from the 60's.
(6.) The star from the 60's television series "Bewitched", Elizabeth Montgomery also remains a famous icon of the "big hair" look. Her look flawlessly channels that era, making her a sole representative of that 60's "big hair" look.
(7.) Marilyn's glamorous bouffant from the premature 60's, the look she channeled shortly before her death can also be held as a main symbol of the teased hair look of that era!
(8.) Liz Taylor's infamous, flower gilded updo also seemed worthy for this list, her big black tresses can also be observed in her roles during the late 50's and early 60's.
(9.) Kim Novak whose sole means of fame revolved solely on her role in the Hitchcock thriller "The Birds" can also be looked at as not only a "Hitchcock Heroine" but an icon for that 60's "big hair" look. Her pale platinum tresses emulated a flawless glamour laced richly with that 60's flare as they elegantly remained piled high over her brow.
(10.) Last but not least, I shall include a more up to date adaption on this look! Lana Del Rey's elegant Priscilla Presley- inspired hairstyle can be imitated with one click on the link below! She's the perfect inspiration for the retro-obsessed girls like me who like to keep up to date and classy! ;)
