Glamorous Ocean Waves

GLAMOUROUS OCEAN WAVES

Maybe it’s the way the light shines on each individual wave, resembling that of a glossy waterfall-like mane that adds to the glamour of Old Hollywood inspired curls. Perhaps that’s what makes them so mysterious, so stunning and so enchanting. Whatever the cause for their plethora of beauty, it is a well regarded fact that these immortal curls will never lose their radiance and class. There’s no other way to express one’s love for Old Hollywood glamour than these loose satiny waves, deeply parted and sometimes gently resting over the extensive lashes of a beautiful woman, the look is so ethereal, so beguiling and laced with such a mysteriousness that also adds to the excessive glamour so perfectly! There’s also no better way to add a sense of elegance to an evening at a fancy restaurant with one’s hair layered in smooth velvety curls that so vibrantly catch the light that so faintly beams from the chandeliers which dangle from the vast and ornate ceilings that fill most luxurious locations. Why not add some diamonds and pearls to your look as well? It’ll really compliment the classic glamour look you’re aiming for, without a doubt!

So, basically my aim in this article is to express how these waves need to be tried more often by your ordinary woman, yes, I know women that grace the red carpets of Hollywood often weave their hair in Veronica Lake or Marilyn Monroe inspired curls, but I feel that any other woman deserves to shine just as vibrantly for whatever important upcoming event she may be anticipating! So, my lovelies, don’t hold back, give the classic look a try! Yes, I know, they do consist of a somewhat rigorous styling process, but I can promise that it is without a doubt, worth all of the trouble and time it takes! Oh, and so you don’t have any excuse for not trying them, here’s a link for a YouTube video by Miss Cherrydollface that’ll get you through the process step by step!

Also, here is a link for the “best tips EVER to create Old Hollywood Waves” Hopefully they provide all that they claim to for you, my lovelies! So far “glamour’s” tips haven’t failed me, so I wish you the best of luck as well! ;)

Second to last, here are two of what I'd consider the best mousses for curly tresses, they'll contribute to the glossiness of your waves so avidly! <3 Hope these help, dears!

At only 24 bucks, this product is better priced than at most other locations I’ve seen it shelved at, and it’s definitely worth every penny! Take my word on this one… my beautiful sister has the curliest hair in the world and is definitely an expert on all products for styling her cherished spirals! I think she’s actually planning on naming her future poodle after the product… so, yeah, it’s probably pretty snazzy! ;)

Half the price of the above one, this product offers suave and flawless curls as well, and all reviews I’ve heard have been positive, so why not give this less expensive item a chance if you feel like being as thrifty as possible at the moment! ;)

So, whether you decide on choosing the lesser or more pricey version of the curling mousse, custard, pudding, or  whatever you’ll call it… remember that this product is very vital for the perfect Old Hollywood look you’re most likely aiming for! It’ll help in creating a flawless waterfall-like effect. I promise!

Now, for your next fabulous dinner date try donning the Old Hollywood tresses inspired by Miss Lake as well as the ever beautiful Lauren Bacall! <3

Lastly, just to show that I am brave enough to give the look a spin myself, and that I am not a hypocrite who just talks the talk, here's a pic of my stunning sister, Bethany and myself both emulating Marilyn and Rita's infamous curls! Hopefully our take on the look inspires you (and not discourages you, I think we did considerably well... eh? haha) to give the look a shot!

Not her on the "discouraging" part, hers are, without a doubt flawless, which I know you have already noticed! ;)

I know you’ll look stunning, my lovelies! Have a fabulous Sunday evening! <3 xoxoxoxo

Celebrating Andy Warhol's Muse

Celebrating Andy Warhol’s Muse

As most of you all very well know, Miss Edie Sedgwick, a fashion icon as well as the legendary artist, Andy Warhol’s muse, offered a new outlook on fashion and was one of the many influences during the 60s fashion movement, a movement which offered a whole new perspective of woman’s fashion. Doll-like lashes, edgy pixie haircuts, thin frames and vibrant colored dresses were just a few of the era’s notable trends.

Twiggy channels the mod retro eye look of the era in the photo above! <3

Anyway, the reason the fashion- celebrated icon has come to mind in today's post is primarily in hopes to endorse her as this week’s fashion inspiration as well as to promote my friend Miss Carissa Lynelle’s Indie film based on her life. Mind sparing even a dollar in hopes to contribute to her creative work? I can assure you that you DEFINITELY won’t regret it and will be more than glad to contribute to such a talented filmmaker’s work!

Also, be sure to take time to grasp some inspiration for a more Edie-based wardrobe look, as well, as she channels and emulates the socialite so flawlessly! :) Here are the links to her pages that are primarily dedicated in promoting her film as well as raising money for it! Be sure to show your support by liking it on Facebook as well, my lovelies! <3 Oh, and how fabulous is the photo shoot below? Log into your account to check it out!

The Evolution of Lady-Like Charm

The Evolution of Lady-Like Charm

Maybe, every once in awhile, that is, we are blessed with the honor of beholding some elegant young lady, you know the one that carries herself with poise, grace and dignity as if proud to call herself a lady?
Not just a woman, but a lady! Now, it is vital that a woman not drape her body in frumpy garments, face it… no one is really attracted to tents, my dears! It is excessively important anyway, to dress in hopes of flattering one’s figure, not completely disguising it. However, why leave little to the imagination, either?
It takes away a woman’s mystique and elegance whenever she roams the street revealing every inch of her body! When I see, for example, a woman dressed in nothing but a body hugging tank top and low rising shorts that scarcely conceal the upper parts of her thigh, all I really seem to perceive of this woman is that she has no dignity and flaunts her body as if to reveal her willingness to offer it to anyone!
Whatever happened to those beautiful women of old who used to wear their flowing floral speckled sundresses, white gloves concealing the lower part of their wrists down to their finger tips? Woman used to wear sparkling strings of diamonds and pearls to compliment their outfits as well as to stand as a symbolism to celebrate their glamour as a woman.
Hats with birdcage netting strewn over a woman’s brow were also a customary fashion pick for luncheons or shopping sprees. Their feet had also often been adorned with glossy pastel pumps, not too high (like the stilettos of now) and yet not too short either… providing enough height to their proportion. Besides, I of course don’t oppose entirely to a four inched heel every now and then… it definitely adds to every woman’s confidence and makes for a slimmer and taller appearance, however, I do feel that woman should also be alert in remaining tasteful about what they pair such outlandish fashion statements with.
Whenever, for example, you see that lady on the street dressed in, almost a coat of paint over her body (which she seems to think acts perfectly as a dress) with these sky high heels on, it seems merely to give me the vast impression that this is a woman who bears no dignity and yearns for nothing other than to win a lustful man over (which is far from difficult)! Besides, when you think of it… what would you rather, my lovely ladies, a man who falls into lust or a man who falls into love with you?

In the words of Miss Monroe, who, though a celebrated bombshell of her era (and who at times left very little to the imagination), still seems to believe in keeping classy; “Your clothes should be tight enough to show you’re a woman but loose enough to show you’re a lady.”
Now, with these considerations in mind, please remember that you are also a lady and that you deserve respect, not lust. If you carry yourself with the above listed elegance and poise (while also staying clear of tent-like ponchos, however) please remember, that you’ll be most undoubtedly sure to find the perfect man who excessively respects, adores and loves you for more than just your body.

Have a fabulous evening, my lovelies! ;)

The Pros and Cons of Cupid's Majestic Bow

The Pros and Cons of Cupid's Majestic Bow

Now, I know that yesterday’s post was a really optimistic one about Valentine’s Day… and it can definitely be a holiday so enchanting that not even one word in the English language can be used to depict it’s grandeur, however, we all know (especially us lonely and single people) that the holiday can also act as a grim one, one filled with mere reminders of our loneliness and desolation! In fact, I might go so far as to compare it to the sight of a scar from a previous wound on our body, the dark spot’s existence merely acting as a painful reminder of how much grief and agony that that wound had once caused us! However, DON’T get me wrong, if spent with the right person and sometimes people (our close girlfriends, you know the ones that justify our being single?), it can most undoubtedly be one of the most thrilling and unforgettable days of the year.
Ah! If only there were a way in which I could describe the excitement that rushes through your body, almost like a flash of lightning riddling from the top of your head to your toes when your Valentine shows up at your front door, a bundle of roses and even a cheap teddy bear in his hand! The smile that such an event paints on one’s face seems almost permanent, and for awhile it’s hard to believe that you’re not in Heaven! The stars seem to shine like diamonds and despite the February frost that plagues the outdoors, nothing seems apt in fazing us, less it be joy! Blossoms of fireworks seem to be blasting within our love-struck minds, thoughts that exist behind our toothy grins and beaming, love glossed eyes! Until you've experienced it, however, you’ll never know the ecstasy that the par takings of true love has to offer, and for some, this is just the perfect day to cherish and contemplate your appreciation towards Cupid’s merciless bow, a bow which strikes an unearthly joy inside of us… one that can, however, also inflict upon us an indescribable pain.
Sometimes, in fact, it feels almost as if Tchaikovsky dream-like sonata composed especially for the unforgettable romance between Romeo and Juliet is gently whispering in my ear whenever I’m even near that man that I truly love! Yes! Love IS a many splendor-ed things and is most definitely NOT something to be taken for granted! <3
Now, as to return to the point in which I'd started, I'd like to first begin by stressing how even those that have found themselves riding solo on this romantic holiday can enjoy themselves, and despite what most may think, you most definitely don't have to face the holiday with an excess of misery and loneliness! haha. If you ask me, I am nearly certain that a big part for our local grocery and drugstores in selling big velvety heart shaped boxes of creamy milk chocolate truffles is primarily intended for us lonely, partner-less souls who have nothing better to do than to drown our sorrows in our boxes of heart-shaped truffles and cherry cordials!
It's really a matter of NOT thinking about your pain, however, if you should ever hope to skip the depression that might so often plague the holiday when you find yourself single! Just think, ladies, the day doesn't just have to be used as an excuse to have a romantic dinner with our true loves, and in fact, the holiday can very well be cherished with the devouring of decadent chocolates (you can resume your diets tomorrow! ;)) and enjoy ourselves in front of our television sets, soaking our pain in tragic yet romantically enchanting movies! Besides, remember that being lonely is a LOT better than being involved in an unhappy relationship!
How many songs have been written by bitter woman, angry towards love and all it's anguish, about how "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" or how "Diamonds are Forever" and more reliable than men, and if you, my dears, find yourself having to resort to a similar philosophy in finding happiness in temporary, substance-less pleasures, then please, know that it's all OK! So, with all that said, please, promise me that there'll be no tears, no depressing thoughts or yearnings for somebody to take your desolation away by filling in as your "Valentine"! Just try and stay happy... hey, why not enjoy some coffee with your other close and fellow-single girlfriends?

Also, please, don't be afraid to indulge in a little helping of chocolate delights either (one day is NOT going to hurt) besides, why increase your chances of misery by binding yourself to some sugarless, lettuce-infested diet on such a gloomy day, when chocolate's there, waiting to make you feel better? Now, remember, my lovelies, single or not, please don't forget that you are truly something special! ;) xoxoxoxo

The Classic Scarlet Beauty Look

   The Classic Scarlet Beauty Look

Especially to woo your Valentine! ;)  So, how much more elegant and romantic can the classic red lip look get? If you’re among the many of us that are eager to incorporate that fire engine red in our date night looks for the romantic and special evening of Valentine’s Day, then join us as we look through various finishes, colors and looks that our red lips can be made into, there’s no set way of how the classic lip look should be done, and I know that we all enjoy expressing ourselves with our own take on various looks, so whether you end up going with glossy, bright ruby or crimson (hey, why not powder a little bit of red glitter and make your look reminiscent of Judy Garland’s bold and sparkling red heels in “The Wizard of Oz”?) well, regardless of whatever you choose, please remember that your look will never fail to impress as it is an immortal classic that I feel shall forevermore be celebrated!

Please, however, and I desperately plead, don’t aim for the red lip look that the Queen of Hearts channels in Tim Burton’s cinema-scope take of “Alice in Wonderland”… just leave that for the queen... because, trust me, it's definitely a look that only a queen could pull off! ;)

Here are some tips for the best shades for your skin tone, my lovelies! <3

The Best Shade of Red for...

Fair to Li
ght Skin: For those of you with ivory or even a "peaches and cream" complexion, opt for a matte red lipstick that leans closely to a mandarin shade as it'll aid in bringing out  and highlighting the undertones that'll so vibrantly add to your radiance and beauty. A few good tips is that you stay clear of any pinkish hues and aim towards more of a brick red.

Beige Complexions: For my sun-kissed beauties, I recommend opting for more of a deep red, crimson-like color with hints of gold, or possibly a bright orange hue which not many seem too keen in pulling off, mind you!

Golden Complexions: For my golden glowing beauties, I suggest that you lean towards any full coverage gloss without any shimmer, preferably in the stunning shade of "Moulin Rouge" or a richly infused matte coral hue!

Bronze Complexions: For those blessed with the lovely bronze-hued complexion, the best tone of red for you to aspire towards would most undoubtedly consist of shades along the lines of coral as it compliments your complexion immensely, and basically any other vibrant and bold tints. Do keep in mind, and avidly cherish the fact that you can pull off pretty much any other shade of red out there, by the way! :)

Coco Complexions: Now, the best shades for my coco complexioned beauties would most strongly consist of any matte orange/red or rust colors as these tend to keep and compliment the other warm tints that make up your complexion, or in other words keep your look "all in the family". ;)

Dark Complexions: Last, but most certainly NOT least, the tips and suggestions that I would offer for my deeper and richer hued complexions out there would be that you lean towards any blue-based reds as it acts in offering a chic and beautiful look. Rich velvety reds that contrast with your skin look stunning as well!

Now, my lovelies, head off to your local "Sephora" or even "Target" and "Walmart" and satisfy yourself with the purchase of the perfect lipstick customized for your complexion... it'll be sure to leave your valentine in awe! I promise! ;) xoxoxo

Have a most enchanting Valentine's Day! <3
